Spring officially started on the Spring Equinox, that is on March 20th at 10.45pm when the sun crossed the equator and started to head north - as we’re sure you’ll all be aware.

So with the accompanying lengthening days, rising temperatures and lighter evenings, it is now time to enjoy sitting outside - our bench tables are all oiled up ready for the new season - in the heart of this delightful Downland village, with some of our great pub food and maybe a bottle of red or white from our new wine list - have a look below. Here you can also browse our new ‘daily menu’ which features our latest stunning dishes as well as our regular favourites of course, so no one will be disappointed.

New to our menu . . .

Here are a few of the latest additions to our menu . .  Chicken Kiev, Eggs Benedict and Lamb leg steak . . and remember, our menus change daily to reflect availability of the freshest ingredients and produce and are regularly updated on our website -

he new Greyhound Brewery in West Chiltington is now supplying us with some lovely real ales, and we also have a new house lager ‘By George - it's Lager’
- offering a fine pint at less than £4.

We have also added a new local gin to our selection - Brighton Gin: ". . distilled beside the seaside . ."

Coming soon will be a small list of special wines available at limited markup to give the our customers the opportunity to experience better-than-usual wine by the bottle.

Our Charities . . .
Our recent Charity Night was a great success. It marked the fact that it's the start of our new charity year and we were able to report that, through our customers’ generosity, £7,955 was raised last year to support our four chosen charities.
Added to these for 2016 is
an extra charity this year . . .
The Lavinia Norfolk Centre
at Angmering School

oodwood opens its starting stalls once again on Saturday 30th April, for “19 fabulous days of horseracing & entertainment”. Apart from the racing there will be an Artisan Food Festival, which should whet your taste buds - ready for a lunch or evening meal just down the road, here at The George - maybe to celebrate your winnings!
And don’t forget Goodwood Revival
and Festival of Speed - we are already taking table bookings from visitors, so make your reservations well in advance.

lso on our doorstep there are three notable Festivals taking place over the
next two months. The Sussex Food and Folk Festival in nearby Singleton (above, 1st - 2nd May), a little further afield the Brighton Festival (7th May onwards) and the Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival (28th - 30th May). All are great excuses for us to offer a few new menu items and specialist locally-brewed beers and ales, so come along and see what is on offer to reflect this very thirsty time of the year!

And don't forget!
The UK swapped to British Summer Time on Sunday March 27th, which meant that our clocks went forward an hour and Spring arrived. The days are becoming longer and we tend to get a little busier, so you could consider coming earlier or later than usual to be sure of a table and a more relaxed meal.
You could also then stay and enjoy yourself for longer!
Spring also means that we are open again on Sunday and Monday evenings (see below for Summer opening hours).
